Terms of Service

Last updated 14 October 2026

This Terms of Service sets out the conditions for accessing AxiOstra, managing an account and using its educational, forum and messaging services. It identifies the responsibilities of users and the Operator without excluding rights or duties that applicable law makes mandatory.

1. Acceptance and scope

Creating an account requires acceptance of these Terms of Service. The Intellectual Property & Use Licence Agreement, Acceptable Use Policy and User-Generated Content Agreement supplement these terms for their respective activities; the Disclaimer and AI Use Statement explain the service’s limitations. The Privacy and Cookie Policies explain processing and storage choices: acknowledging them is not blanket consent. Browsing terms apply only to the extent lawfully incorporated and enforceable. A user who does not accept applicable conditions should discontinue the relevant service.

2. Service and operator

AxiOstra is an independent educational service. “AxiOstra Operator” (the “Operator”) means the service operator identified on the About us page, which forms part of this operator identification. The service provides interactive mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics materials and related community features. It is currently free of charge and has no paid features. AxiOstra is not an accredited educational institution.

Currently published visualization pages and public forum content may be viewed without registration. Posting, account management and messaging still require an account. AxiOstra does not award accredited qualifications or guarantee that its materials satisfy external examination or professional requirements.

3. Eligibility and minors

Account holders must be at least 13 years old. Where applicable law requires a higher age, legal capacity or parental or guardian involvement for the agreement or relevant data processing, those requirements must also be satisfied before registration. A registration declaration does not constitute independently verified parental consent. Parents or guardians may contact [email protected] about eligibility or a child’s account. Misrepresenting age or authority does not remove applicable protections or the Operator’s legal duties.

4. Account security

Use an email address that you are entitled to use and can access. Verification and recovery depend on that mailbox. Protect account credentials and maintain accurate information where it is needed for the service. Accounts are personal and must not be sold or transferred. Users are responsible for their own authorised actions and reasonable credential security; this clause does not impose liability for every unauthorised action irrespective of fault.

Suspected unauthorised access should be reported to [email protected]. Available measures include changing the account password and revoking unfamiliar sessions in Settings. Prompt reporting helps investigation but does not waive statutory rights.

The messaging passphrase is separate from the account password and must also be protected. The Operator cannot recover it. A key reset may prevent access to previous messages on the resetting account and does not delete copies already available to another participant.

5. User content and permission to operate the service

Users retain any rights they hold in their submissions. By submitting content, the user grants a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store, reproduce, technically adapt and transmit it as reasonably necessary to provide, secure and maintain the requested service. Public posts may be displayed publicly; private messages are delivered to their intended participants and are not licensed for public publication. Necessary service providers may perform these operations on the Operator’s behalf. This permission does not transfer ownership or authorise unrelated commercial reuse.

Users may edit or delete their own posts and articles, subject to account restrictions. Post deletion also removes associated comments and reactions. Individual comment deletion is not currently self-service and may be requested by email. An operator-removed comment becomes an empty placeholder so that other people’s replies remain available. Following removal, the operational permission continues only as necessary for restricted recovery backups, necessary moderation and review records, applicable legal duties or unresolved disputes. Removal does not recall third-party copies. Account deletion is described in the Privacy Policy.

Users must hold the rights, permissions or applicable legal exception needed for each submission. Attribution alone does not establish permission. Do not submit confidential information, personal data or third-party material without an appropriate basis.

6. Community and messaging rules

The forum and messaging features support academic discussion related to the site. Private messages are encrypted in the browser and are excluded from the public-content word-list screening and sensitive-text review queue; community rules nevertheless apply. A user may mute or block a private-message conversation. Blocking restricts private-message sending rather than making public posts invisible or blocking every other interaction. Suspected abuse may be reported to [email protected] with relevant, lawfully obtained evidence; submitting message content discloses that material to the Operator for review.

Criticism of an idea is permitted; abuse of participants is not. Users must not:

  • Submit unlawful content, threats, targeted harassment or discriminatory abuse;
  • Submit material involving sexual exploitation of children, or facilitate exploitation or harm to children;
  • Disclose another person’s private information without authority or infringe intellectual property or other rights;
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent qualifications, authority or verification status;
  • Send unsolicited advertising, spam or repeated unwanted messages or friend requests;
  • Upload malicious software, interfere with security controls or attempt unauthorised access to accounts or infrastructure;
  • Use automated access in a manner that materially disrupts the service, circumvents access restrictions or facilitates abuse.

7. Moderation, reporting and review

The Operator may restrict or remove content and restrict accounts where reasonably necessary to address breaches, unlawful activity or risks to users and the service. The nature, seriousness and context of the conduct will be considered. Serious harm may require immediate action. Reasons will be provided where practicable and lawful; action and review remain subject to applicable legal requirements.

A verification badge indicates only the scope of the information reviewed by the administrator. It is not an endorsement of all statements, professional advice or conduct of the account holder.

Content concerns may be reported through available reporting controls or [email protected]. Include the relevant URL or identifier and the grounds for the report. Do not include unrelated sensitive information.

Public posts, articles and comments, including replies, are checked against the Operator’s category-based word lists within the configured subject scope. A match in a political, sexual-content or gambling category blocks publication. For personal attacks, self-harm, drugs and advertising, publication is blocked when the same category has more than three distinct occurrences in one submission; three occurrences alone do not trigger that threshold. Repeated occurrences of the same term count, while overlapping matches do not count the same text twice. Unclassified custom terms retain a single-match restriction until categorised. Passing a filter is not permission to breach the community rules.

Successfully published public content containing any configured word-list match is listed for the Operator’s review, with the relevant content and account identifiers, matched terms, category counts and review status. A match does not establish misconduct, illegality, health status or political beliefs. Review considers context; the Operator may remove a comment and issue a warning by system notification. Filters can make mistakes or miss harmful content, and users may request review. Rejected content is not published, although drafts and necessary technical or reporting records may exist. These filters and the review queue do not inspect private-message plaintext.

The forum is limited to its educational and scientific subject matter. Political campaigning and unrelated political debate are outside that scope, as is unlawful content. Contextual academic references remain subject to the published content rules and moderation review.

Reports are reviewed by the Operator. A decision may result in no action, removal, a warning or a temporary or indefinite posting restriction. The interface does not identify the reporter to the reported user, although identity may be inferable or disclosure may be legally required. Relevant outcomes may be communicated by system notification or email.

An account subject to a posting restriction may ordinarily continue to sign in and read, but cannot publish or edit forum submissions or send private messages while that restriction applies. Additional restrictions may be necessary for security or legal reasons.

The current appeal process is available at axiostra.com/appeal using the UID and relevant grounds. A suspension may be appealed while active and a warning within 180 days; the interface accepts one appeal for each reviewed version of a penalty. A subsequent change to its duration permits a fresh appeal of the changed restriction. The Operator may uphold, reduce or withdraw a penalty and communicates the result through the available notification or email channel. This internal process does not remove other remedies required by law.

8. Intellectual property and educational use

Rights in the site’s original materials, software, design and branding belong to the Operator or relevant rights holders to the extent recognised by applicable law. Third-party and open-source materials remain subject to their licences. Users may access the service for personal study and teaching, link to its pages and make limited attributed quotations consistent with applicable law. Substantial republication, redistribution or use implying endorsement requires the necessary permission or another lawful basis. Nothing here restricts mandatory copyright exceptions.

Referenced publications and external resources belong to their respective rights holders. Their inclusion does not transfer a licence to the user or imply endorsement by their authors. Use of AI-assisted or third-party material does not create rights beyond those recognised by law or the relevant licence.

9. Educational limitations

Models, calculations and explanations are educational representations that can simplify assumptions, omit factors or contain errors, including undetected AI-generated errors. The Operator remains responsible for editorial decisions and applicable legal duties. The Disclaimer and AI Use Statement explain these limitations in detail. School promotion or classroom use does not establish accreditation, school endorsement or guaranteed curriculum or examination accuracy. Teachers should assess suitability and verify material before relying on it for instruction or assessment. A virtual laboratory does not replace physical safety training, risk assessment or qualified supervision.

10. Availability and service changes

Maintenance, security incidents, technical limitations and other circumstances may affect availability. Features and materials may be revised or withdrawn. The Operator will provide reasonable notice of a planned substantial reduction or closure where practicable and legally required, and reasonable opportunities to retain users’ own content where supported. No perpetual availability or fixed service level is promised.

11. Warranties and mandatory protections

The free service is provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by applicable law, no additional warranty is given regarding uninterrupted operation, accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. This clause does not exclude an express commitment made elsewhere in this agreement or any warranty, standard of care or consumer protection that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Responsibility and limitations of liability

The Operator remains responsible under applicable law for its acts and omissions, including editorial decisions concerning AI-generated content. Use of AI and limited production resources do not transfer that responsibility to users or remove a duty of reasonable care. These terms impose no blanket exclusion of negligence liability or zero-fee liability cap. Nothing excludes or limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Statutory consumer and personal-data rights remain unaffected. Users are not required to provide an unlimited indemnity or waive lawful remedies.

13. Termination

Users may stop using the service and request account deletion at any time. The Operator may restrict or close an account on the grounds described in this agreement, subject to applicable notice and review requirements. Termination does not cancel accrued rights or obligations. Provisions concerning rights in content, limited retention, liability and dispute resolution survive only to the extent relevant and enforceable.

14. Revisions, applicable law and disputes

Material revisions will be identified by an updated date and appropriate notice. Fresh acceptance or consent will be sought where legally required; continued use is not treated as consent to unrelated personal-information processing. Changes will not retrospectively remove accrued rights. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue insofar as they can lawfully operate.

The law and competent courts are determined by applicable conflict-of-laws, jurisdiction and mandatory consumer or data-protection rules. The location of hosting infrastructure does not, by itself, displace protections available in another jurisdiction. No exclusive foreign forum, compulsory arbitration or waiver of statutory remedies is imposed. Users may first contact the Operator to seek an informal resolution without losing access to competent authorities or courts.

15. Contact and rights complaints

Contact the AxiOstra Operator at [email protected] for service concerns, content reports, accessibility issues or rights complaints. An intellectual-property complaint should identify the protected work, disputed URL or content, the basis of the claimant’s rights or authority and a reply address. Include an accurate explanation and only information reasonably necessary for review. The Operator may request clarification or communicate relevant allegations to the affected contributor, subject to privacy and legal requirements.
