Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

Last updated 14 October 2026

This policy defines acceptable conduct in the AxiOstra educational community, including public submissions, accounts and private communications. Context, proportionality and applicable legal rights remain relevant to enforcement.

1. Scope and educational purpose

The AxiOstra Operator identified on the About Us page provides educational materials and a related academic community. Contributions should be relevant to learning, science, mathematics or the service. Reasoned criticism, correction and disagreement are permitted; disagreement alone is not abuse. Political campaigning, unrelated political disputes and unrelated commercial promotion are outside the forum’s scope.

This policy supplements the Terms of Service and User-Generated Content Agreement. It applies to posts, articles, comments, replies, profiles, uploads, account names, reports and communication features. A passing automated check does not establish compliance or legal permission.

2. Harm, exploitation and harassment

Do not publish threats, targeted harassment, discriminatory abuse, doxxing, sexual exploitation, or instructions intended to facilitate unlawful violence or serious harm. Sexual exploitation of children is prohibited without exception. Do not solicit intimate material from children or misrepresent age or authority to exploit another person.

Do not encourage suicide or self-injury, promote dangerous drug misuse, or organise unlawful gambling. Good-faith educational discussion, personal requests for support and prevention information must be considered in context; mentioning a subject or matching a word does not prove misconduct, a diagnosis or intent. The forum is not an emergency response service.

3. Rights, honesty and academic integrity

Respect copyright, privacy, confidentiality and other applicable rights. Do not upload stolen examination papers, confidential records, another person’s contact details or identifying images without an appropriate legal basis. Attribution alone does not make copying lawful.

Do not impersonate people or institutions, falsify credentials, misrepresent scientific evidence, or knowingly present fabricated results as observed data. Label illustrative or simulated data as such. Use assistance in accordance with your school’s assessment rules; do not submit another person’s work as your own or use the service to facilitate cheating. Honest errors should be corrected when identified.

4. Security and unwanted activity

Do not attempt unauthorised access, distribute malware, steal credentials, bypass another person’s account restrictions or interfere with service availability. Do not evade a restriction through replacement accounts. Security research must respect authorisation, avoid accessing other users’ data and stop when a vulnerability is identified; send a proportionate report to [email protected].

Do not send spam, scams, unsolicited advertising or repeated unwanted contact. Automated access must respect access controls and must not impose disruptive load or harvest personal data. This provision does not prohibit accessibility tools or lawful research merely because software is used.

5. Public-content checks and review

Public posts, articles and comments, including replies, are checked against configured category word lists. A match in the political, sexual-content or gambling category blocks submission. Personal-attack, self-harm, drug and advertising categories block submission when the same category has more than three occurrences in that submission; three alone does not meet that threshold. Repeated occurrences of one term count; overlapping matches do not count the same text twice. Unclassified custom terms retain a single-match restriction until categorised.

Successfully published public content containing any configured match enters a restricted review queue with identifiers, matched terms, counts and status. These signals can be inaccurate and do not establish wrongdoing. Contextual educational content may require human review. Content may still be removed for an independent rule violation even if it does not meet a word-count threshold. An operator-removed comment retains an empty reply placeholder, and a warning may be sent by system notification.

6. Private communications and reporting

Private-message content is encrypted on participants’ devices. The public word-list filter and sensitive-text queue do not proactively inspect private-message plaintext. This does not make abusive or unlawful conduct permissible. Participants can mute or block a conversation and may voluntarily supply relevant messages as evidence; doing so reveals that evidence to the AxiOstra Operator outside the encrypted conversation.

Report concerns through available controls or [email protected], identifying the content and reasons. Supply only lawfully obtained and necessary evidence. The service cannot promise confidentiality against a lawful disclosure requirement, recipient copies or facts from which a reporting identity can be inferred. Knowingly false or abusive reports may themselves be reviewed.

7. Enforcement and appeal

Responses may include no action, correction, content removal, a warning, a time-limited restriction or an indefinite restriction, according to seriousness, context and applicable duties. Immediate protective action may be necessary for serious risk. Reasons and an opportunity for review will be provided where practicable and lawful; automatic filtering is not a substitute for every required human decision.

Account penalties can be challenged through /appeal using the relevant UID and grounds; other content decisions can be raised by email. A restriction can be reduced, changed or withdrawn after review. Internal review does not require you to waive access to a competent authority or court and does not alter mandatory legal deadlines.
