Yeast is a single-celled fungus that can reproduce by budding. It has a nucleus and a cell wall, but no chloroplasts. Compare its shared and distinctive features with plants and animals.

Predict firstAre a cell membrane and a cell wall the same structure?

No. The plasma membrane controls traffic; a wall provides support and protection. Animal cells have a membrane without such a wall, and bacterial, plant and fungal walls differ in composition.
